CALIBRE™ polycarbonate resin is an amorphous engineering thermoplastic which is characterised by a high level of mechanical, optical, electrical and thermal properties.
The CALIBRE™ portfolio provides broad design versatility through its wide range of viscosities and product options.
General info
Trinseo's proprietary interfacial production process gives CALIBRE™ polycarbonate resins very high ductility and toughness over a wide temperature range. This allows parts from CALIBRE™ polycarbonate resin to keep their impact resistance at very low temperatures and remain dimensionally stable at very high temperatures.
A characteristic CALIBRE™ resin offers:
- High transparency
- Extreme toughness
- Low uniform shrinkage
- Dimensional stability
- Consistent processability
- UV stability
- Flame retardancy
- Heat resistance
- Wide colour availability
CALIBRE™ resins are tailor made for a range of conversion processes including injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding, foam processing. High-flow grades are available to best suit thin wall and long flow length applications.
Typical applications of CALIBRE™ resin:
- Building and construction – glazing
- Optical lenses, sun wear lenses
- DVDs
- Healthcare components
- Water bottles
- Cellular phones
- Electronic equipment housing
- Electrical appliances
- Lighting
CALIBRE™ polycarbonate resins from Trinseo offer an excellent combination of clarity, heat resistance and impact resistance. Special resins are available for specific enhanced performance requirements, including colour, ignition resistance, UV stability, and improved mould release. CALIBRE™ polycarbonate resins are also suitable for self-colouring.
